Think.Make.Start. Workshop at Maker Space, Munich.

This project explores the transformation and inflation of 2D materials based on sensor input for seamless material interaction and surface transformation for adaptive comfort and wellbeing. The system combines a lower inflatable pouch structure with an overlaid expanding surface material. The expansion is achieved by perforating the material with specific patterns. For the inflatable system, various bending and folding mechanisms were explored and applied to different use cases. Using InflatAble in a seat, the inflated spots could stimulate different nerve chords for regulating a persons awareness or providing adaptive comfort during different seating positions. Furthermore, body data of a person can be tracked to offer an individualized seating experience.
